About Paul W Bingham

It all started in the winter of 1990 on a trip up to Canada, where Paul's dad was delivering saddle horses to a ranch near Cartwright, MB. On the way it began to blizzard, driving past a heard of Herefords grazing out in that storm, he couldn't help but notice the quility of the cattle. Having an eye for good beef, he couln't help but notice they were structurally correct and hardy cattle.

The following fall he purchesed his first Hereford heifers from Jack Lewis of Crystal City, MB importing them to his ranch near Minnewaukan, ND. The next spring he purchased a bull from Guilford's of Clearwater, MB.

But it wasn't until the spring of 1998 that he purchased his first registered heifers. In the early years of raising registered cattle, he learned a lot of what genetics worked in his environment and what didn't!

After a few generations of the PWB Herd he started studing the pictures of  old Herefords of the 60's. Noticing that they were very blocky inspite of there small frame. He decided that he must have the old influence on the modern big framed cattle. Starting with

After a few generations of the PWB Herd he started studing the pictures of  old Herefords of the 60's. Noticing that they were very blocky inspite of there small frame. He decided that he must have the old influence on the modern big framed cattle. Doing his research he started contacting ranchers he knew had semen on old bulls. Not wanting to part with any, Paul was at a loss. But as circumstance would have it, he ended up at the right place at the right time meeting Mr Bob Otto (a 40 year ABS representative) in Hardees in Devils Lake, ND. Hearing his desire for old genetics, Bob told him he was talking to the right man. As he had semen on Britisher Wetmore AGA 50Y (the sire of PWB Wet Diver).

PWB Wet Diver did such a good job he was kept on the farm with a small cow herd until he was 7 years old. And currently his maternal sister & one of his daughters is being used in PWB’s donor program.

After seeing what good job Wet Diver did, Paul was inspired to keep the ball rolling with the old genetics. Planning to generate an entire heard of old blood cattle with a larger frame.
